OTTER and teachers’/principals’ professional development is important if we aim to effectively bring the ecological
crisis to the attention of principals - in a way that generates new starting points for learning content, activities and
structures.

Merrilyn Goos

About Merrilyn
Her academic research has investigated students’ mathematical thinking, the impact of digital technologies on
mathematics learning and teaching, numeracy across the curriculum and the lifespan, the professional learning of
mathematics teachers and mathematics teacher educators, curriculum and assessment reform, and gender equity in STEM
education.
Why OTTER?
Schools sometimes separate learning from the world in which children and young people live, and this project aims to
bring learning to life in the real world. This is what I can help OTTER achieve.

Zsuzsanna Kray

About Zsuzsanna
She worked for international NGOs like IUCN and she has been focusing on classes in rural schools, teacher trainings,
writing textbooks, e-learning materials and curricula, designing the educational program of summer camps and creating
awareness raising campaigns.
Why OTTER?
Zsuzsanna believes that experiential and outdoor learning are key elements of education in the times of current crises.
She is convinced about the synergetic power of pro-environmental actions done as part of a community, which is why she
got interested in OTTER project.
